One of the last standing forest around Bengaluru is Bannerghatta National Park (BNP). In these forests, elephants and other wildlife have right to safe passage. Unfortunately, their right to safe passage is constantly under threat due to fragmentation. Human activities like mining, quarrying, roads, agriculture have sliced up the forests. As a result, man-animal conflict in and around the BNP has increased. Elephants die, men die too.
BNP is Bengaluru’s lung space and also important for city’s water security. Despite all this BNP has been ravaged for the profit of a few. This blog intends to collect and disseminate information about the forest so as to enable us to take informed action.
